3777 Garden Highway

Garden Highway's river homes are a Sacramento original. Raised on piers above the riverbank, connected by footbridges, and designed around the water, they have a character unlike homes anywhere else in the city.

The house at 3777 Garden Highway had the setting and the original 1970s architecture, but decades of deferred maintenance had taken a toll. Blue carpet, oak cabinetry, worn railings, and a faded gray-green exterior left the property feeling dark and dated.

The nine-month renovation addressed the house from the systems outward. Work began with termite fumigation, extensive dry rot repair, roofing repairs, a new electrical panel and wiring, and plumbing upgrades that included a new water heater and drainage system. Inside, the home received new flooring throughout, a rebuilt kitchen with new cabinetry, countertops, and appliances, fully remodeled bathrooms, and freshly painted vaulted ceilings. The corner fireplace was rebuilt as a floor-to-ceiling stacked stone feature.

The exterior received new lath, stucco, and finish plaster, along with a new garage door and repaired or replaced windows. New sod, irrigation, and cedar mulch completed the landscaping.

The finished home retains the angular character of its original architecture while adding the structure, finishes, and durability needed for modern riverfront living.
